Begin a Fibre Easter Egg Tradition
The beauty of this fibre tradition is the variety of fibre techniques that can be used in the creation of Easter eggs. Counted cross stitching, knitting, crocheting, sewing, quilting, smocking, weaving, and beading -- as well as combinations of some of these techniques -- all lend themselves to the designing and making of fibre Easter eggs.
Try hand-dyeing fabrics, sewing these fabrics into egg shapes, and stuffing them with polyester or cotton batting as a way to capture the beauty of dyed hard-boiled Easter eggs for year-after-year enjoyment. Also, solid pastel-colored fabrics or Easter print fabrics can be sewn into egg shapes in the same manner.
Set a goal for yourself of building a fibre Easter egg collection by planning to make one egg each year for yourself, for a child, grandchild or other relative, or for a dear friend
