Quick-Method Liberty Quilts
In considering a fibre project to work on to mark this time in our history as a nation, take a look at Leisure Arts' book, Quick-Method Liberty Quilts. The collection of projects includes quilts, wallhangings, table runners, chair cushions, window valences, clothing, and tote bags. All projects use red, white, and blue fabrics with occasional accent colors. Some projects use prints instead of solids for interesting effects.
In nineteenth century America, it was a tradition in some communities for a mother to present her son with a handmade red, white, and blue quilt on the occasion of his twenty-first birthday. This would be a lovely tradition to revive for a son, nephew, or grandson, or to expand to honor a daughter, niece, or granddaughter.
Yardage requirements for each project are clearly stated, and directions are straightforward. A "skill level" for each project is provided for your information. CyberFibres encourages you to use this merely as an estimation of difficulty, not as the basis of whether or not you attempt a given project. Anything you genuinely want to make you can make, albeit with the advice of others if you get bogged down
