Fixing Stitching Mistakes
The most difficult part of stitching this Churchill portrait was blending the numerous skin tones of the face. CyberFibres accidentally made the width of Churchill’s face one stitch narrower than the designer intended; however, careful recalculated placement of the skin tone stitches made this flaw imperceptible, and produced a miniscule narrowing of Mr. Churchill’s round face – a flattering effect!
All is rarely lost when a needleworker makes a minor error in counted cross stitch projects. This is truest when a large number of floss colors are in play. A miscounted misplaced stitch is most noticeable when only one or two colors are called for in a design. In most cases, such an error will be readily noticed by the stitcher, carefully removed, and restitched with the correct color.
