Think Summer, Think Christmas!
During the first half of the twentieth century, women commonly carried handkerchiefs in their pocketbooks and evening bags. If your mother or aunt has invited you to look through her hanky collection, you may have found examples of holiday motifs among the floral and lace-edged styles. Christmas hankies are also in evidence in antique shops and flea markets.
Since these handkerchiefs were seasonal in design, they were not used during the rest of the year. As a result, they tend to be in very good condition. If you can collect from six to nine Christmas hankies, you can make an attractive home decoration now to enjoy throughout the holiday season ahead.
