Make Your Own Christmas Hankie Tree
This fibre project from the book, Christmas From the Heart, requires no actual stitching. It does, however, require a fibreworker’s eye for combining fabrics in a pleasing way. The background fabric can be a solid color or a holiday print. If a print is used, CyberFibres recommends choosing a small print, in order to avoid competing with the designs printed on the hankies.
Cork bulletin boards come in various sizes, so select the size you feel will best accommodate your hanky arrangement. A hot glue gun or regular fabric glue can be used for the Christmas stand buttons, the tree topper decoration, and the optional trim around the frame. Handkerchiefs are attached with small appliqu?© pins, not glue. Who knows when you may wish get the urge to unpin a Christmas hanky and carry it with you, as your mother or grandmother may have done?
