Wedding Stitches
An heirloom wedding sampler should reflect the qualities of an enduring marriage – beauty, intricacy of design, and a classic style that will serve as a reminder of the grandeur and significance of the wedding day itself. Materials for stitching should be of lasting quality.
This spring, CyberFibres searched far and wide for a counted cross stitch pattern for a hand stitched wedding sampler. Initial choices ranged from designs that were too juvenile or informal, to designs that were too plain and used very few color shades.
Finally, CyberFibres found a pattern by Pamela Kellogg in The Cross Stitcher that was just right. The design uses viola flowers in shades of yellow and lavender, a clear verse, the name of the new couple, and the date of the wedding. Gold thread outlines the script, and floral tendrils lace through its border. The finished sampler now hangs in the home of the newlyweds in Durham, England.
